TRAIN OF THOUGHT

ABOUT ME

After over 6 Decades on the planet I feel I have enough to start sharing.  My head is full of 'thots' that will be heading your way via this blog.  I don't expect to get much of a following on this site.  But you never know.  I always sign off with a TTFN.  It comes from the character Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.  It stands for 'Ta-Ta For Now'

MY PICK
OF THE MONTH

IMG_2811_edited_edited.jpg

So, I decided to do nostalgic reading of some of my old science-fiction books.  I recently broke into a box of books and gave them some shelf space.  As you can tell by the NYC bus transfer tickets I used as bookmarks, I last read these in 1976  and 1978 respectively.

I find that interesting because both books were copyright 1972.  I probably picked them up used when I was a poor college student.  I always had a book or two for those long bus and train rides to/from school and work.

The books detail the early career of Isaac Asimov and his first 30 or so published stories.  The commentary between stories is just as compelling as the stories themselves.  It took many years for Mr. Asimov to consider himself a writer.  He was studying for a Doctorate in Chemistry and figured he would wind up working in a lab somewhere or teaching.

I don't remember reading these books or the stories in them.  But it is wonderful discovering these treasures again.
